Sweet barbecue sandwiches with cinnamon

When the rain will stop and the sun will shine again, it's time for a cozy barbecue. And of course that doesn't just mean meat and savory dishes, but there's also room for something sweet. So these barbecue sandwiches! We made these sweet bread skewers with sugar and cinnamon. And they are made in an instant with the Croissant dough XL from Danerolles.

By the way, you can use these sandwiches on the barbecue as well as bake in the oven. So you can make them even when the weather doesn't cooperate. And… you didn't get it from me, but filled with whipped cream they are even tastier if possible!

Danerolles' dough

For this recipe of sweet barbecue sandwiches we use Croissant dough XL from danerolles. We have skewers of about 35 centimeters ourselves and the dough for one XL croissant is just enough to wrap it in its entirety. The great thing about this dough is that it's already ready. Because the last thing you want during a barbecue is to waste time on even more preparation. Knead the dough, let it rise, etc. In this case you can remove the dough from the tin, cut it to size and wrap the skewers. Easy, but most importantly: very tasty!

This recipe is for 6 sweet barbecue sandwiches. Do you need more? Then you can buy two or more cans of dough and use some extra sugar and cinnamon. Easy!

Preparation of sweet barbecue sandwiches

Mix the sugar with the cinnamon on a plate. Then open the can of Croissant Dough XL and cut the dough for the sandwiches. Then cut the triangular pieces of dough into strips, which you stick together 'mitred'. You now have six long strips of croissant dough.

Wrap the barbecue skewers in this and press the dough well. Wet your hands with a little water and grease the sandwiches with it. Then sprinkle them on all sides with the cinnamon sugar.

Preheat the barbecue (or oven) to medium heat. 180°C is perfect for the oven. Bake the sweet barbecue rolls for 12-15 minutes until done and golden brown. Then let them cool down and… enjoy your meal!
