The Antillean pastechi we all know. Delicious pasties that can be filled with anything, such as tuna. This pastechi are normally fried. Super tasty, but not so healthy. And of course it is quite a job to make the dough 'from scratch'. Something you like to do for a party, but maybe not if you only need a few of these tuna patties.
That's why we came up with this alternative version: quick tuna patties from the oven. (Almost) just as tasty as the original, but ready much faster! For these oven patties we use the 'petit pain dough' of Danerolles. That's dough for small, white bread rolls.
The dough of danerolles is perfect for making these tuna patties. The best? It's also ready when it comes out of the can. It is even pre-formed into 6 buns. You can easily roll these flat and fill with the tuna filling. Then your pies are actually ready. For an even faster version, you can fill them with grated cheese. Set a timer and you will probably manage to have them in the oven within 5 minutes!
This recipe is for 6 patties. Do you need more? Then simply double the ingredients!
- 1 can 'petit pain dough' from Danerolles
- 1 can of tuna
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- ½ red bell pepper, finely chopped
- ½ onion, chopped
- 1 tl paprika
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1 tbsp raisins
- 1 egg, jammed
- Sesame seeds
Preparation of quick tuna patties
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with baking paper. Remove the 'petits pains dough' from the tin and then make the filling as follows:
Drain the can of tuna well. Then heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Saute the bell pepper and onion in this until the onion is translucent. Then add the tuna, soy sauce and tomato paste. Stir well while frying everything gently for about 5 minutes. Then remove the pan from the heat and add salt and pepper to taste. Do you like raisins? Then add it right now.
Let the filling cool and meanwhile roll out the dough for the petits pains with a rolling pin to a circle of about 15 centimeters in diameter. Fill each circle of dough with 2 tablespoons of the filling, then fold in half. Press the edges well with a fork and then place the patties on the baking tray.
Brush the tuna patties with some beaten egg and sprinkle with the sesame seeds. Bake the pies for 15-20 minutes until golden and golden. Enjoy your meal!
