Low carbohydrate noodles with Powerslim noodles

door Linda Terrizzi

Low-carbohydrate food and noodles ... that seems a contradiction! Bami (or rather: all 'normal' pasta and noodles) is not allowed when you follow a carbohydrate-restricted diet. Yet there is now a good alternative on the market. PowerSlim makes noodles and other pasta types based on high-quality soy proteins. They have a firm bite and contain only 4,3 grams of carbohydrates per serving!

Anyone who has been eating low-carbohydrates for a long time knows: most KHA alternatives to pasta, noodles or rice are not exactly tasty, to say the least. Of course you can be a nice one arros bruá with cauliflower rice or a zucchini spaghetti, but it doesn't really look like the original. When we got the low-carbohydrate products from PowerSlim we were a bit skeptical if we were to test.

Linda in particular has a lot of experience in 'low carb' food. She has tried most products from major brands and she was never really enthusiastic about the result. The noodles based on konjac, with 0 grams of KH and 0 calories…? Not to eat! Pizza with cauliflower base? Just leave it… it is a bit like vegetable products pretending to be meat: it is just not all.

One thing immediately caught our eye when we looked at the packaging of the PowerSlim noodles: this 'pasta' has serious ingredients! With all that protein (and yet about 97 kCal per serving) they will at least fill you better than the other versions. And pasta that you have to cook for 10 minutes? That must have substance! So try it!

The result? To be honest, we were both very positively surprised by this pasta. It had a firm bite, remained good after cooking and baking ... and just made a very tasty low-carb bami. If you didn't add that this was not a “normal” pasta, you wouldn't even have noticed. The taste reminded us the most of Chinese rice noodles. These are the thin pasta strings that you find in a spring roll, for example. So an extra tip: If you roll them with vegetables and meat in a Chinese bean curd skin or in a thin omelet, you can also make super tasty low-carb spring rolls!

The program

These noodles are part of the PowerSlim weight loss program. This program is designed by dieticians and includes recipes as well as special low-carbohydrate products and personal guidance. This guidance and guidelines immediately get the 'difficult' from the low-carbohydrate food. This way you know what you can eat at every stage and you are not busy calculating all day.

In addition to the first stages, where you reach your target weight, you will also learn a healthy, carbohydrate-restricted diet to maintain the results. So you can't find the noodles in the supermarket. But since there are no fewer than 350 PowerSlim coaches in the Netherlands who have the product in their range, fortunately you never have to travel far.

Recipe for low-carb noodles

So for this noodle we used the low-carb noodles from PowerSlim. In addition, it includes chicken fillet, spinach, broccoli, zucchini and sprouts. Nice and spicy and nice and healthy. And not unimportant: it also fills fine! In our opinion an ideal KHA evening meal.

This recipe is for 1 person / serving. Do you want to make it for multiple people? Then simply double it.

  • 1 package (30 gr) PowerSlim noodles
  • 100 gr broccoli
  • 50 gr fresh spinach
  • 100 gr zucchini, sliced
  • A handful of sprouts
  • 50 gr chicken fillet
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp curry powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp Kikkoman soy sauce
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • Optional: ½ Madame Jeanette pepper

Tip: delicious with a teaspoon of roasted sesame seeds!

Start cooking the noodles. You do this by putting on a pan with plenty of water. When the water boils, put the noodles in and let them cook in 10 minutes. Then rinse the noodles under cold, running water and keep them aside.

Then cut the chicken fillet into strips and season with the paprika, curry powder and salt and pepper to taste. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan and fry the strips of chicken fillet until they are cooked and golden brown. Set the chicken breast strips aside.

Heat another tablespoon of olive oil and fry the zucchini, the spinach and the (small) broccoli florets in it for a few minutes, until the broccoli is cooked. Now add the chicken fillet and noodles again and finish the noodles with 2 tsp Kikkoman soy sauce. Add the finely chopped Madame Jeanette pepper if you like.

Roast the sesame seeds in a dry pan and sprinkle on top of the noodles. Serve the noodles with a good hand of fresh sprouts on top. Enjoy your meal!
