Chocolate wafers

Are waffles Antillean? No, of course they have their origin in western Europe. The Netherlands, Belgium, England... everyone has a version of this delicious pastry. Waffles are also popular in the United States and in the Antilles.

What can I say? We just love sweets. With this recipe you can make about 10-12 waffles.


  • 500 gr wheat flour
  • 350 gr sugar
  • 20 g dried yeast or 50 g fresh yeast
  • 200 gr butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 150 ml of lukewarm water
  • a pinch of salt
  • 200 gr dark chocolate
  • a waffle iron


Take the lukewarm water and dissolve the yeast in it. Let it stand for about 5 minutes, until it starts to foam slightly.

Add the mixture to 300 g flour. Mix in the sugar, 2 eggs and the butter as well.

Stir everything until even, then add the rest of the flour and a pinch of salt.

Knead well and let it rise for 45 minutes.

Make dough balls of about 100 grams. Let it rise for another 15 minutes.

Bake the dough balls in a waffle iron golden brown in about 5 minutes each.

Melt the chocolate au bain marie and pour some of the melted chocolate over each wafer.
