Shrimp salad / salada di cabaron

This Antillean shrimp salad (salada di cabaron) is fresh, healthy… and of course tastes like you are on a tropical island!

You make it best with shrimp that are nice and large. This way the dish comes into its own when you serve it on a large plate.



In addition to (of course!) Shrimps, you can also use bell pepper, red onion and orange for this recipe.

This recipe is for 4 people

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 500 gr shrimps
  • 2 onions
  • 1 red peppers
  • 1 sprig of celery
  • 1/2 Madame Jeanette pepper (to taste!)
  • 1 lime
  • 1/2 orange
  • a sprig of coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 red onion, in rings
  • salt and pepper to taste

PREPARATION SHRIMP SALAD:

Clean the shrimps and cook them briefly. If you are already using cooked shrimp you can skip this step.



Wash the shrimps briefly under running water and then pat them dry with kitchen paper.

Then chop the coriander and the spring onions. Then cut the bell pepper and the celery into pieces.

Now cut the red onion into rings and chop the Madame Jeanette pepper very finely. (If you don't like hot pepper very well, you can omit the Madame Jeanette or serve it separately)

Now combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and squeeze the lime and half an orange over it.



Finally season the shrimp salad with salt and pepper.
