Creamy strawberry liqueur (make your own)

You can of course buy strawberry liqueur to use it again for all kinds of tasty drinks. But making your own is much more fun… and of course tastier! This sweet and creamy liqueur is easy to make and because of the high alcohol content it has a long shelf life, even at room temperature. 

The liqueur is also very suitable for use in cakes. You can use it in the frosting or a tasty one tremper syrup make of it. This keeps the cake nice and soft and moist.



The recipe is for 1,5 liters

INGREDIENTS:

  • 200 ml vodka (40%)
  • 500 grams of ripe strawberries
  • 300 grams of sugar
  • 200 ml cream
  • 250 ml of whole milk
  • 2 sachets (16 gr) vanilla sugar

STRAWBERRY LIQUEUR PREPARATION:

Wash the strawberries under cold, running water. Then remove the crowns.

Put the strawberries together with the sugar and vanilla sugar in a blender and grind them finely. You can also puree them with a hand blender.



Take a large pan and add the whipped cream, milk and strawberry mixture. Heat it until it boils. Let it cook for a minute, until the sugar has dissolved.

Now turn off the heat and let the mixture come back to room temperature. Finally add the vodka.

Strain the liqueur and then pour it into a sterilized (boiled-out!) Bottle.

Leave the strawberry liqueur bottle for a few days before tasting.
