Li di pistachio – pistachio ice cream

Li di pistacho is a true concept in the Antilles. Everyone loves these little homemade ice creams.

Li is the Antillean way of making ice cream. It is prepared in a different way than ice cream in other countries. On Curaçao we don't let the ice 'spin' while it's freezing.



We freeze the ice creams in separate cups. This makes it harder than, for example, Italian ice cream. Because dairy products are always used, the Antillean li is a bit between ice cream and water ice.

Different flavors li

Li (sometimes written as lie) is made in many different flavors. Fruit, coconut, peanut butter… and of course this version with pistachio. You can actually vary endlessly with the ice creams. For example, have you tried our version with caramel?

Kids love these easy to make ice creams. They are not only delicious to eat, but also fun (and simple) to make yourself. They freeze in a few hours because they go into the freezer in small cups.

Li di pistacho recipe
