Spicy turban with cinnamon, orange and ginger glaze

door Linda Terrizzi

This spicy turban is a real autumn cake. My favorite season is autumn – I really enjoy the beautiful colored leaves and the inclement weather. For me, autumn also includes the scents of spices – the more, the better!

In this turban you will therefore find quite a few. Count on your kitchen smelling wonderful after baking… And then it's time to make the glaze. That in itself is irresistibly delicious. And in combination with the cake it really becomes a party.

Ingredients

This recipe uses a lot of spices. They go first in the cake. We also make a delicious glaze with pieces of ginger and orange peel. These not only give a beautiful color, but also a lot of taste!

The secret ingredient of the glaze is something very Dutch; namely pancake syrup! We use a little of it to give the glaze an extra deep flavor.

Variations on the recipe

With this recipe you can vary nicely with the ingredients of the icing. For example, use pieces of pear or apple instead of orange.

You could even make a version based on red fruit. With or even without ginger; everything is possible!

Spicy turban recipe

The recipe for the spicy turban with the glaze based on cinnamon, orange and ginger can be found in our new baking book 'Hey Dushi! It is my most personal book to date.

You will find 188 pages with the most delicious pies, cakes, cookies and desserts. Some with Antillean roots, and others collected from other parts of the world. In one of the chapters you will even find delicacies from Ireland, including Russell's secret recipe. He makes the tastiest scones based on buttermilk. Wonderfully airy and irresistible!

Each recipe in the book has a full-page color photo… after all, the eye wants something too ;)
