Baked sea bass

You should make these baked sea bass slices with your own breading, which means something like a 'crispy crumb layer'. Mixing breadcrumbs or breadcrumbs with herbs and spices makes the fish slices extra tasty!

CookingLife is a cooking shop located in Groningen and has a second branch in Nijmegen. So if you live in the North or East of the country, you are completely lucky and you can just walk in. We 'should' do it with the webshop, but there is also nothing missing.

Whether you are looking for a complete set of dishes, or for that one nice dish, at CookingLife you will certainly succeed!

What you often see in our photos are the brightly colored plates from the Sunny Summer set and the small plates and dishes from the Street food collection. The nice thing about these two collections is that each plate has a different color. Perfect for people like us, who can't choose.

By the way, ordering and delivering all that fragile stuff went very well! The plates and glasses arrived quickly and unscathed, so that we could quickly start making the new recipes and accompanying photos.

Back to the sea bass

And now back to the recipe. For this 'fried sea bass' we bought one large sea bass from the fishmonger and cut it into pieces ourselves. Of course you can also buy fish slices, fresh or in the freezer, for example at a Surinamese toko.

When you use one large fish, the recipe is enough for 4 people. But of course it is very easy to adapt to other quantities. Doubling or halving is all fine!

Ingredients:

  • 1 large sea bass, in slices
  • 100 gr wheat flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 150 gr breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tl paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • oil, for frying

Preparation of fried sea bass

For starters, it is important that the fish has been cleaned. That is, it is stripped of its gills and guts. Some people also eat the head of the fish, but in this recipe we chose to remove both the head and the tail. We cut the rest of the fish into slices about 5 cm wide.

Place the sliced ​​sea bass on a plate, then continue making the crust. For this you prepare 3 dishes: one with wheat flour, one with the beaten eggs and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, paprika and parsley.

First roll the sea bass through the flour and then pass it through the egg. Finally, place the fish slices in the breadcrumbs dish and press them well on both sides, so that they are completely covered with a layer of the breadcrumbs. Then put the sea bass pieces on a plate for a while, until it is time to fry them.

To fry the fish slices, heat oil in a large frying pan. A layer of about 4 cm is enough. Slide the sea bass pieces one by one into the oil and fry until golden brown and cooked, about 5-7 minutes.

Serve the sea bass with a nice sauce, a salsa with tomatoes or 'just' with a little lemon juice and salt. This time we had couscous, grilled corn on the cob and fried spinach. - Enjoy your meal!
