The best donuts

This is it… the recipe for the best donuts ever. It took a while before we posted a recipe that we were really satisfied with, but we made it. 

When it comes to donuts, we are quite picky: we want them to be fluffy, soft and not too greasy. In our opinion, this is the best way to bake them. You don't need any special things for it, just an afternoon of time. The dough for the donuts has to rise twice, and that takes a while…

For those who don't want to wait long for the rising dough, our new cookbook says Hey Dushi a version with puff pastry. They are also surprisingly delicious!

With this recipe you bake about 15-20 donuts.



INGREDIENTS:

  • 14 g (2 sachets) of dried yeast
  • 300 ml lukewarm milk
  • 50 gr sugar
  • 100 gr butter, melted
  • 550 gr wheat flour
  • 3 eggs
  • sunflower oil for baking

And further:

  • 100 gr granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

COOKING DONUTS:

Mix the warm milk with the yeast and half of the sugar in a bowl. Then let this mixture stand for 10 minutes, until it starts to foam.



Now melt the butter and mix it into the yeast mixture. Then immediately add the rest of the sugar, flour and eggs.

Then dust your worktop with flour and knead it into a soft (and a bit sticky!) Dough. When the dough is well mixed, let it rise in a bowl until doubled in volume. This takes about an hour.

Then knead the dough again and roll it out until it is about an inch thick. Then cut circles of about 8 cm from the dough. Cut a smaller circle of about 3 cm from the center of each circle.

Place the obtained donuts on a baking tray on which you have placed a sheet of baking paper. Then let them rise for another 30 minutes.



Now heat the oil to 175 degrees. Bake the donuts here on both sides until golden brown. Turn the donuts once in the meantime!

Then drain the baked donuts on kitchen paper. Finally, mix the granulated sugar with the cinnamon and finally sprinkle the (still warm) donuts with this. - Enjoy your meal!
