chicken wings with tamarind and honey

These chicken wings with tamarind and honey sauce are perfect as a snack, at a party or 'just' during a meal. You make them in no time and they are guaranteed to be a success!

This recipe is for 6 people.



INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 kg chicken wings, in parts
  • 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste

FOR THE SAUCE:

  • 50 ml water
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • the juice of 1 orange
  • 1 tablespoon of ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons of tamarind pulp
  • 3cm ginger root, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste

PREPARATION CHICKEN WINGS WITH TAMARIN AND HONEY:

First, preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking tray with baking paper.

Then halve the chicken wings and place in a large bowl.

Then pour the sunflower oil over it and sprinkle with paprika, salt and pepper.

Mix everything well together, so that all chicken wings are equally covered with oil and spices.



Then place the chicken wings on the baking tray and bake (or grill) them in the oven for about 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a saucepan, mix the water, honey, orange juice, ketchup, tamarind pulp and ginger slices.

Now bring this to the boil and let it boil down to a thick sauce for about 10 minutes.

Then remove the ginger slices.



Then pour the red wine vinegar into the sauce and beat the sauce with a whisk.

Then season the sauce with salt and pepper.

You can now serve the sauce separately from the chicken wings (as a dipping sauce), or you can pour the sauce over the wings and 'coat' the chicken with it.
