Deep fried Antillean snacks
Our delicious snacks and snacks can be prepared in different ways. By far the most famous way to prepare Antillean snacks is by frying them. The snacks are baked in hot oil until they are cooked and golden brown. The oil also gives the snacks a deliciously crispy layer. Examples of fried snacks are:
Nowadays there is a nice alternative for those who do want the taste of fried snacks, but do not want to work the calories of the oil. With an airfryer you can 'fry' snacks with air. It works a bit like a convection oven, but heats up very quickly and is also a lot faster during preparation.
Unfortunately, you cannot 'just' prepare every snack in the airfryer. Sometimes some adjustments are needed to the original recipe. We recently posted a recipe for Antillean pastechi keshi from the airfryer. This recipe mainly focuses on the dough of the pastechi. Of course you can have any other taste pastechi make and bake in the airfryer.
Antillean snacks from the oven
In addition to fried snacks, there are many Antillean snacks that are prepared in the oven. Savory and sweet dishes are baked at a high (or sometimes slightly lower) temperature. The advantage of baking in the oven is that no fat is used and no unpleasant odors are released.
